Black Friday is over. Did your credit cards and bank accounts survive? As every year, retailers and online stores outdo each other in the price war on one of the most important trading days of the year. Apart from great bargains, I have some tempting links for you this week as well. Many of them with a 100% price discount, because they are open source (jk).

Have fun “shopping”.

No matter if it’s your own craft website, your customers’ webshop, or your SaaS business, you should always have an eye on whether your site is online and accessible for your customers. Besides hosted services like UptimeRobot or StatusCake, there are also open source solutions. This includes upptime. The Uptime Monitor with Status Page checks your websites at a set interval and creates an issue on GitHub if they are no longer available. It is powered entirely by GitHub Actions under the hood. So it easy to set up and maintain. upptime is open source (MIT) and available on GitHub. …

Hello 👋🏻.

Wow, the interview series Francesco is currently putting together is fantastic (I am part of it too). I can still remember our first video call at the end of August. We talked about several ideas and he told me that he had in his head to make 1:1 conversations. Great what you have made of it my friend. Keep up the good work.

What else happened? Well, Twitter Fleets are now trending on Twitter. No more #doomscrolling, now it’s #doomfleeting. Exciting feature, or boring? What do you think?

This week I have a handful of tools for you and the prospect of more. Because today I invested money in a new project of mine: Streaming. It has always interested me; and I just want to try it. Now I have ordered the hardware and should have everything I need to get started soon. We will see. Until then you can already follow me on Twitch: twitch.tv/natterstefan. The content will mainly consist of live coding sessions (JavaScript, TypeScript, NodeJS, ReactJS) and me testing tools and developing side projects. We will see. 😄 I am excited about how this works out. …

Hello 👋🏻.

Who does not know this, you have a picture in front of you and want to have the text in the picture. In the past, I have often typed the text myself. That was laborious and not efficient. All the more I was happy to find a tool last week that solves this for me.

Feel free to share your thoughts with me in the comments below or on Twitter.

Hello 👋🏻.

When I had to work with macOS for the first time in 2012 during my internship in a digital agency I was skeptical. I even had my Windows laptop next to me. Some of the tasks I completed by copying files back and forth and editing them in my familiar environment. When I got my first job after my studies I went into the macOS world again and this time I got stuck with full enthusiasm. …

Hello 👋🏻.

Welcome to my “Week in Review” series. Many of us edit images for their next social media post, YouTube video, or article. It can be a frustrating process when it comes to removing backgrounds from images. A team from Vienna made this a lot easier for us and I will show you how.

Please, share your thoughts with me in the comments below or on Twitter.

How normal am I?

“How normal are we really? 🤔” this question made me curious when I found “How normal am I?” on ProductHunt. It is a live experience to see how an AI would judge your face.

All you have to do is allowing the website to access your webcam (they say no personal data is collected) and start the process. It’s funny when you get feedback like “You are more attractive than 80% of the Spice Girls.”. I am not sure, but still — thank you…

Hello 👋🏻.

Welcome to my “Week in Review” series. COVID still accompanies us and will attend us even longer. I am currently working 3/5 days a week from home and see my team mainly on Discord or in Zoom Meetings. How do you deal with this in your company? How do you make sure that you stay a team and don’t drift apart because of the remote situation?

Let me know in the comments below or on Twitter, please.

Hello 👋🏻.

Welcome to my “Week in Review” series. Each week I will share what I discovered, learned, and tested with you. Let’s take a look at what I got this week.

Last week I allowed myself a few days offline. The silence without push notifications and emails did very well. It was pure relaxation. For this reason, this issue is also shorter and also a bit late. I ask for your understanding. …
